Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Websites can store small amounts of data in your browser. Some of it is needed for the site to work at all; the rest is optional and we ask before using it. This page says exactly which is which.
The one thing we store without asking
When you answer the cookie banner, we remember your answer in your browser. That is the only thing stored regardless of what you choose — and it exists because you made a choice: without it we would have to ask again on every page. It stays in your browser, never reaches us, and contains nothing but “accepted” or “declined”.
Only if you accept: analytics
Saying yes lets us use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. Saying no means neither of them loads at all — not a single request leaves your browser for either. The blog works exactly the same either way.
It counts visits and tells us which articles are read, how far people scroll and which links they click. We use that to fix the things getting in the way: a layout that buries the interesting part, an article that loses everyone halfway, a link nobody can find. It goes back into making the site better to read.
Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
We also use Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft Corporation. It records how visitors move through a page — where they click, how far they scroll, where the pointer goes. From that it builds two things: maps that combine many visits into one picture, and a playback of an individual visit that we can watch to see where someone got stuck.
We are spelling that out because a playback is the part people do not expect. What it does not capture is anything you type: text you enter, and content Clarity classifies as sensitive, is masked in your browser and never reaches Microsoft at all.
Playbacks are deleted after 30 days. The aggregated click and scroll data behind the maps is kept for 9 months.
What we never do
No advertising cookies. No ad networks. No selling your data. No tracking you across other websites. If that ever changes we will ask you again — it would not be covered by an answer you gave to this page.
Changing your mind
You can change your answer at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any browsing page, which reopens the banner. Clearing the site data in your browser resets everything. Declining costs you nothing: every article stays readable.
Why we ask
Czech law — § 89(3) of Act No. 127/2005 Coll. on electronic communications — requires your demonstrable prior consent before anything non-essential is stored on your device. Where what we store is personal data, the GDPR applies as well, and our Privacy Policy explains the rest.
